Ah, a lovely afternoon it has been. After falling into a 15 hour coma after dim sum yesterday (a nap at 3pm yesterday turned into non-stop sleeping until this morning, I must have been fighting something off. So good to get sleep, but sad I missed midnight showing of Tron), anyway, after finally waking up, I was ready to venture out of the house.
A quick stop at Delessio's for cupcakes, sandwiches and mac n cheese, and then I was at Stern Grove. Located ed and jason, and lured miss heidi over to our little oasis. It was my first time at Stern Grove, and I am kicking myself for not going to more of the free concert series this summer. Such a lovely afternoon of eating and drinking and laughing and talking about project runway and being silly.
Alas, not so much an afternoon of music listening, as we were stuck in the west meadow, and they lie like lying liars when they say you can hear the music just fine from over there. It felt more like being in the dorms, when that random guy a couple of rooms down is playing Ozomatli, and you can kind of hear it, but it is competing with the sounds of the Red Hot Chili Peppers from someone else's room. The main area was JAM PACKED so there was no way we were gonna squeeze in there, so I just enjoyed more lounging and reading in our meadow until it felt like the right time to leave. Got to listen to a couple of songs closer up as I walked through the crowds to the exit.
All in all, a lovely day. And now time to do lots of laundry and read more of Choir Boy while playing Ozomatli on my own stereo system. And eat leftover mac n cheese and bbq beef brisket and smoooshed up cupcakes. Life is good.
Why have you forsaken me?
I so wanted to love Nacho Libre, how could one go wrong with Jack Black, Napoleon Dynamite director, and mexican wrestling? Alas, despite some fun random moments, it was overall a non-inspiring film. And the cute little gay movie I saw beforehand was also a not-so-good movie.
Here's hoping the three I am going to try to see today fare better.
